身につけるものを表す名詞

sleeves(Lesson 77)、earrings(Lesson 78)は左右ふたつあるので、ふつう複数形で使います。sneakers(スニーカー)、shoes(靴)、boots(長靴)、socks(ソックス)、 gloves (手袋)なども同様です。数えるときは<a pair of...)を用いて a pair of sneakers(スニーカー1足)のように言います。

pants(ズボン)、jeans(ジーンズ)、glasses(メガネ)は左右がつながっていますが、これらも複数あつかいです。

今週のストーリーに出てきた語句についてもっと学習しましょう!

 

今回は一般動詞のtake について取り上げます。 takeの意味は「~を取る」となります。過去形は tookです。

 

例：I took a book from the bookshelf.

わたしは本棚から1冊の本を取りました。 take はこのほかにもたくさんの意味で使われています。

重要な意味・・・

・~を買う                         I'll take this sweater.

このセーターを買います。

~に乗る                             I took the train / the bus/ a taxi.

わたしは電車(バス/タクシー)に乗りました。

・~を連れていく              I took my children to the zoo.

~を持っていく                わたしは子どもたちを動物園に連れていきました。

 

まとまりでよく使われている例・・・・・・・・・

• take a photo / take a picture       写真をとる

• take a shower                              シャワーを浴びる

• take a bath                                  入浴する、おふろに入る

• take off my shoes                        (わたしの) 靴を脱ぐ

Key Points of the Week

 

Monday

You must stay with the group.

あなたたちはグループといっしょにいなければいけません。

・「~しなければいけません」と言うときには、動詞の前に must を置いて動詞は原形を使います。

わたしはきょう、数学の宿題をしなければいけません。

I must do my math homework today.

 

Tuesday

You mustn't walk around here alone.

ひとりでここを歩きまわってはいけません。

・「~してはいけません」と言うときには、動詞の前に mustn'tを置いて動詞は原形を使います。

You mustn't eat here.

 

Wednesday

Can I take a photo?

写真をとってもいいですか?

 

・「~してもいいですか?」と許可を得るときには、Can Iを使って質問します。

わたしたちを案内してくれませんか?

 

・「~してくれませんか?」と相手に頼むときには、Can youを使って質問します。

≫name A+B. call A+B

 

 

Our family named him Winston, but we call him Winnie.

わたしたちの家族は彼をウィンストンと名づけましたが、わたしたちは彼をウィニーと呼びます。

 

name A +B(AをBと名づける)、call A +B(AをBと呼ぶ)

<name A + B>は「AをBと名づける」という意味です。同じようにcall A + B>は 「AをBと呼ぶ」という意味で使われます。自己紹介でニックネームを紹介するときは、 <Please call me....>を使って、Please call me Ken.(ぼくをケンと呼んでください) などと言います。
